OUR VISION:
- To be a worshiping, witnessing community faithful to Jesus Christ.
John 4:23 “But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” also Ro. 12:1, Rev. 22:8, Matt. 24:14 “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all.”
OUR VALUES and COMMITMENTS:
- To give witness to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord in thought, word, and deed. We believe in Jesus Christ with the Apostles.
Luke 24:46,”Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations…You are witnesses of these things.” Col 3:17. Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.” John 3:3 “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again/from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
- To share the love of Christ with neighbor and friend, here and abroad in tangible ways with those who may not be connected to Jesus Christ and His Church. We follow the biblical principle of calling people to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ in which He bestows eternal life, Godly relationship and life’s meaning.
(Gal. 6:10) “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those of the household of faith.”
Extending invitations to Christ to those with whom we have relationships (Mt. 7:1)
Supporting traditional Gospel sharing missionary activity (Matt 28:19)
Providing food, clothing and tangible help to those in need (Matt 25:35)
- To encourage each other as we use our time, talent and treasure to serve Christ and community.
Ro. 12:4 “Just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly…”
As Christians in the reformation tradition we confess:
- Jesus Christ is The Word of God, (John 1); God with us, (Matt. 1:23), The Christ (Luke 9:20), our Savior (Luke 2:11)
- The Scriptures are the inspired word of God; our guide in all aspects of life.
Luke 24:32 “Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining/opening the Scriptures to us?” (2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture / God inspired Scripture is inspired and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness…” The scriptures are free from errors pertaining to issues of Godly faith and Christian practice. (Mt. 22:29, Mk. 14:49, Lk 24:27, Jn. 5:39, Ro. 16:26, 1Cor.15:3.) (They are comprised of many literary forms, but do not purport to be books of modern astronomy, geography, physics, etc. His miracles defy our understanding of science.)
- Worship which is rooted in Scripture; The main initiator and focus in worship is God, not us; God is the subject and we are the objects.
- Our standing before God is due to no merit of our own;
Eph. 2:8 “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
- Christ is truly present in His faith filled people gathered around His Word received, Baptism administered and Holy Communion partaken. (Mark 14:22)
Martin Luther in his 1528 Confession Concerning Christ’s Supper: “Why then should we not much more say in the Supper, “This is my body,” even though bread and body are two distinct substances, and the word “this” indicates the bread? Here, too, out of two kinds of objects a union has taken place, which I shall call a “sacramental union,” because Christ’s body and the bread are given to us as a sacrament. This is not a natural or personal union, as is the case with God and Christ. It is also perhaps a different union from that which the dove has with the Holy Spirit, and the flame with the angel, but it is also assuredly a sacramental union.” “… we do not make Christ’s body out of the bread … Nor do we say that his body comes into existence out of the bread. We say that his body, which long ago was made and came into existence, is present when we say, “This is my body.” For Christ commands us not to say, “Let this become my body,” or, “Make my body there,” but, “This is my body.” Luther’s Works, Vol.37.
- The Apostle’s and Nicene Creed as the Trinitarian faith of the Church throughout the ages. (Jn. 14:9, 16, 2 Cor 3:14)
- The historic Lutheran documents defined this faith in the 1500’s, and still inform our faith today. (www.bookofconcord.org)
- To clarity, honesty, and grace in all our activities and dealings. (Col 3:12, Gal 6:1), under the guidance of the Scriptures as opened by the Holy Spirt (Luke 24:32).
